Ohhhhhhhhhh.......ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Fireworks tonight in Vancouver!

Canada opens Vancouver's international fireworks competition over English Bay tonight.

Set to music by Japanese composers, Canada's team will tell the tale of Godzilla.

The shows -- tonight, Saturday, next Wednesday and Aug. 2 -- last 25 minutes and are judged on five criteria: general concept, colour, originality, quality of production and correlation of music.

Vancouver police, TransLink and city clean-up crews ask you to consider your fellow fireworks fan, bring your manners, leave the alcohol at home and take your garbage with you when you leave.

The road closures start at 6 in Kitsilano, and 7:30 in the West End.
