Suzanne's Disorganization Disaster

My house has a second half story so the walls slope downward, which makes the space hard to figure out from an organizational standpoint. One side is okay, with shelves and a walkway to my daughter's bedroom. The other side is the place where everything that doesn't fit elsewhere, or I don't know what to do with goes. Every 6 months or so I try to purge it out and end up cutting the contents by some, but there are still several bins with random useful items. Of course, since I can't see what is there I can't really use it. When I do need something (like my backpacks and sleeping bags for camping next weekend), I face a horrible task of digging through the wreckage until I find the desired items! Please help tame the beast.
