History: I came into the Vancouver SPCA Feb 9th as a stray cat.
Personality: I am a really sweet and friendly boy. I love to sleep on my back. I am recovering from a sore on my back (another kitty probably bit me), but I am not a fighter. I am shaved a bit there, but otherwise I'm such a handsome guy. You must come and see me and say "hi". I would be a great friend for any family and I would love you forever. Also, I am good with kids. We had some kids come to the shelter and I liked them all. I love to sit on your lap.
Ideal Home: I am looking for a home that will keep me safely indoors so I do not get injured again. I can go to a home which has never owned a cat before. Please tell the SPCA staff you saw me on the 95 Crave website.

TaffyName: Taffy (ID#115133)
Breed: Cocker Spaniel/Lab
Size and age: Approximately 11 years old (senior)
Location: Vancouver, BC SPCA (604-879-7721)
History: Taffy came to the Vancouver Shelter because her owner could not afford treatment for her ears.
Personality: Taffy is a quiet, laidback senior lady who enjoys being by your side.
Ideal Home: Retirement is in the cards for this lady, she would love a home where her people will take her for a couple walks a day. Taffy would love a home where she could lounge by your feet while you read a good book.

SethName: Seth (ID#113615)
Breed: Lab/Rottweiler
Size and age: Approximately 8 years old (senior)
Location: Vancouver, BC SPCA 604-879-7721
History: Seth followed a bouvier back to an address in Surrey which was apparently his home. The Surrey SPCA spoke to a neighbor who said the owner had moved and would be back tomorrow to get the dogs. This never happened and Seth came to the Surrey shelter to find a new home. Shortly after, Surrey transferred him to Vancouver as the kennels are overcrowded in Surrey.
Personality: Seth is a wonderful old soul who loves to be around his people. He does get a little anxious when left alone but with some proper guidance would settle in w/o much problem. He is good with other dogs and cats and rides well in the car.
Ideal Home: Retirement is in the cards for this fellow he would love a home where his people are around most of the day to cuddle and play. Seth would love a home where he can sleep in front of the fireplace or at his persons feet.

NovaName: Nova (#111091)
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Size and Age: Approximately 7 Months (Puppy)
Location: Vancouver, BC SPCA

History: Nova came to the shelter when her owner no longer had time for a puppy. She had a bad case of Demodex mange (non-contagious) and is well on her way to recovery.
Personality: Nova is a shelter favorite. At 7 months she is full of energy and loves to cuddle.
Ideal Home: Nova is looking for a home where she can gain some confidence in new situations. She enjoys the company of other dogs and even cats.

Catahoula dogsCatahoula Rescue in the Lower Mainland is in desperate need for a foster or permanent home for one of their puppies. The dogs were slated to be euthanized in an overcrowded shelter in Georgia last week, but the rescue organization did some fundraising to bring them up here. One of the dogs has a foster home, but they are desperate to find a home for its littermate.
The dogs are five months old and weigh 30lbs. They are expected to be around 60 pounds when full grown. If you are interested you can e-mail Jennifer at jenandloki2@yahoo.ca. Also, check out catahoularescue.com to learn more about the breed.
 

BeautyName: Beauty (ID#7405)
Breed: Arab Red Bay
Size and age: Approximately 8 years old (Young Adult)
History: Beauty came to Maple Ridge after an investigation on a rural property near Langley. She was underweight and malnourished with several medical issues.
Personality: Beauty is a very flashy show pony who is eager to please and very keen on learning. Approx 15 hands.
Ideal Home: Beauty is greenbroke and will need a home where she can continue to grow and learn. She would make a good show pony and with some more training be a good canidate for a childs show prospect.

TookieName: Tookie (ID#94250)
Breed: American Bulldog Mixer
Size and age: Approximately 4 years old (Adult)
Location: Vancouver, BC SPCA
History: Tookie was left with a Police Constable after his owner left saying he didn't want him anymore.
Personality: Tookie is a headstrong bully breed who loves to play and wrestle with other dogs. Tookie will also settle down and cuddle when his energy is spent.
Ideal Home: Tookies ideal will be with someone who is a strong confident owner with some breed knowledge and who would be willing to enroll Tookie in obedience classes.

BoboName: BoBo (ID#7405)
Breed: Domestic short hair
Size and age: Approximately 6 years old (Adult)
Location: Vancouver, BC SPCA
History: BoBo originally came to the SPCA in May 2005 and was adopted out to a young couple. He was returned late October 2007 by the couple as the wife was pregnant and worried that the cat would have problems. Learn more about cats and pregnancy
Personality: BoBo is a very sweet cat who loves to be held and is very gentle. BoBo has been with kids and dogs before, so he would make a wonderful pet for anyone.
Ideal Home: BoBo is looking for a family home where he will be loved.

Bindy and SilverNames: Bindy (ID#: 55010) and Silver (ID#: 55009)
Breed: Dwarf Rabbit Pair Mother and Daughter
Size and age: Young Adults
Location: Vancouver, BC SPCA
History: Bindy and Silver have been in the SPCA system since August of 2006. They were surrendered by their owner who, due to unfortunate circumstances, could no longer afford their care.
Personality: Both bunnies are shy at first but warmup quickly to people.
Ideal Home: Bindy and Silver are looking for a home where their bond can continue to grow and they wouldlike to have free run for a few hours a day.

BillyName: Billy (ID #: 96216)
Breed: Neutered Male Domestic Short Hair Cat|
Size and age: approx 5 years old (adult)
Location: Surrey, BC SPCA
History: Billy has been with the Surrey SPCA since August 10 2007. He came to the shelter when his owner unfortunately passed away. Billy has since come down with URI and has recovered and is now looking for his forever home.
Personality: He is currently in our cat communal room but he is very shy, but he is not aggressive at all.
Ideal Home: Billy would prefer to be in an adult-only home and be the only pet as he is stressed in such a busy place and I'm sure he misses his owner a great deal. In a caring, nurturing environment I'm sure Billy will blossom.

Peter the GreatName: Peter The Great (ID#8166)
Breed: Neutered Male Domestic Short Hair Cat
Size and age: approx 3 years Young Adult
History: Peter came to us originally with the name Moose. His owner was no longer able to care for him and brought him to the Burnaby SPCA hoping to find him a great home. Peter came to the Vancouver SPCA shelter in June 2005.
Personality: A laid back cat who enjoys pets and other cats.
Ideal Home: Peter the Great wants a home where he can spend his days watching birds out the window and chasing toys around the house. He would like people who enjoy a cuddle while watching TV and a warm body while sleeping.

ArthurName: Arthur ID#96955
Breed: Neutered Male Staffordshire Bull Terrier  and Lab mix
Size and age: approx 3 years Young Adult, medium to large size
Location: Burnaby, BC SPCA

History: Arthur was found as a stray running around loose in Pemberton, a small town just North of Whistler. He was brought in to the West Vancouver SPCA by a good samaritan who was driving home to Vancouver.
Personality: Arthur is a very friendly outgoing dog with lots of personality.
Ideal Home: Arthur's ideal forever will be very active and have lots of time to take him for obedience classes and walks. He is noted be good with cats and dogs and enjoys offleash time at his current facility. We are reccomending kids over 10 as Arthur tends to jump up on people when excited (all of which can be cured with classes).

Sabre
Name: Sabre (ID#71385)
Breed: Neutered Male Labrador Mix
Size and Age: Young Adult, medium to large size
Location: Surrey BC SPCA  604-597-5655
History: The landlord found Sabre, after his tenant moved out.  They called the Surrey SPCA and Sabre has been there since August 3rd. The landlord signed Sabre over to the attending Officer so that he can find new loving home.
Personality: Although Sabre is nervous at the beginning when meeting new people, he will settle down once he is used to the situation. New dogs make Sabre nervous although he gets along fine once he knows them.
Ideal Home: Sabre is looking for a home with experienced guardians who can give him plenty of TLC and help build his confidence. He would benefit from obedience training and due to his nervousness should go to a home with kids over 12 years old. Sabre needs to be in a new home where he will be loved again.
