Nirvana's rather unceremoniously named Box gathers their debut Bleach and the odds'n'sods collection Incesticide into a two-disc set. Together, these albums paint a fairly comprehensive portrait of the band's formative years, touching on their sludgy, metallic, experimental, and poppy sides as they learned to combine these aspects more cohesively. Though Bleach is arguably the more focused album, with "Blew," "Negative Creep," and "Love Buzz" blending the group's sonic fury with an emerging sense of melody, and "About a Girl" showcasing Kurt Cobain's growing songwriting powers, Incesticide is still more interesting and listenable. Read More
